Background, motivation and accomplishments
Richard (b. 1972) was born in Fort Lauderdale FL. At the earliest of consciousness, Richard had creative curiosity, which was most often embraced through drawing and painting. Growing up this creative curiosity took on all forms, from art and maniples to film, music, and writing.
Before this, flush out my consciousness of florida, starting with the treehouse and my dad’s friends drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon, the grandfather clock, my sisters trip to Arizona, my bike and playing with the neighbors (hide and seek at night) and of course the pool incident, which try to show as your vision quest…
Richard grew up California dreamin’ from seeing every year image slides from his parent’s three week honeymoon through California, Nevada and Arizona and hopes of making it their home. A couple years later, with limited funds, a baby on the way, broken down automobile and family moving to Florida, they quickly followed. That experience lingered however, permeating annually when Richard’s dad would take out the carousels of those images—firing up the projector. The southwest and west coast lifestyle transcended to Richard and in the late summer of 1999, Richard fulfilled his dreams of trekking west. As a young adult, he took the leap—venturing out west engulfed in Jim Morrison lore—to pursue his dreams of taming Hollywood.
On his way to California, Richard visited Las Vegas to bare witness to the place that HS Thompson so strangely wrote about. Three days of 110 degrees (note reading, journaling, capturing sin city’s glittering lights and night dwellers, Richard finally made his way to the city of Orange, Old Towne, in Southern California. (Note: the desert and the west)
Richard attended Chapman University, where he first studied Film and Art; then switched to experimental psychology. For his senior thesis, he used itten color theory to improve letter recognition of 1st graders in opposing color combinations on the color wheel. He has BA and MA from Chapman University in Orange, California, in which he studied art and behavioral science. Richard also studied at the University of North Texas and received a masters of science/information science with an emphasis in archival studies. (Note: artistic training/development)
